What? Red? White? Glow? I can’t even figure out where I am and why I’m wearing this funny hat! I don’t even play the saxophone…
And if you walk, skip, march, saunter, jog, or simply go to the Ridgefield Community Library, you will find TWO gift baskets that the Friends of the Library are offering for their October silent auction. Bid on one basket or bid on both!
What’s inside these beautifully-wrapped baskets you should get for yourself or as a gift for someone you REALLY like?
They each have two bottles of wine, chocolate, a wine-related book (stories more than wine info), glasses, and a few additional goodies. One basket features red wine; the other features white wine. Each bottle comes from one of four of Ridgefield’s wineries.
Are you feeling glowy yet?
Remember, ALL proceeds of the auction will be used to support the Ridgefield Library Building Fund and other programs and services provided by the Ridgefield Community Library.
Cheers to everyone who supports the library! But hold the wine. Give me more of that chocolate in that basket!

I LOVE spicy stuff! Just look at me. But how does this silent auction thing work? I mean, I’m flexible and want to give it go, but I need details!
How does it work?
Every month, the Friends of Ridgefield Community Library host a Silent Auction to help raise money to support current library programs and the new library building fund.
We rely on the generous donations of our members or the public for the items which are usually valued anywhere from $25 to over $100 dollars. The auction lasts the entire month. You must come into the library to see the item, to place your bid on the bid sheet and to see if you’ve been outbid. The person with the highest bid at the end of the month wins the item and will be contacted at the end of the month.
Sure! Everyone is welcome to trot on down to the library. But pace yourselves because we’re still a little library until we expand into a BIGGER, BETTER library with YOUR help!

Okay, okay. I know I have to be quiet in the library. But I’m not idling. No siree! I’m no idler. I’m taking a good, long look at this BBQ basket being silent-auctioned off in July. And I’m fixing to bid on that bad boy.
What kind of auction can you have in a library? Silent, of course!
Did you know that the Friends have been holding a monthly silent auction offering a must-have item that either you will enjoy or that would make a great gift?
Go-o-o-o-o-ly! How in tarnation did I miss that? Well, sure as shootin’ I know now, an’ I’m goin’ ta hoof on down ta the library…if Sarge lets me. Hey! Maybe Sarge’ll want ta go? Go-o-o-o-o-ly! That’d sure be swell.
Each month we have a new treasure for you to bid on. ALL proceeds support the Ridgefield Library Building Fund and other programs and services provided by the library.
July’s item is a BBQ-er’s dream!
An Ode to BBQ: BBQ, I love you. Thinking about you makes me drool. I’m pretty sure I need more tools. BBQ, I love you.
It’s a basket filled with everything you’ll need for your next BBQ adventure:
a chef’s apron,
1001 Best Grilling Recipes,
veggie grilling pan,
BBQ kitchen towel,
shish kabob skewers,
Micro Brew BBQ sauce,
small American flag,
2 hot dog baskets, and
a large reed basket.
WOW! How do I get in on this action?
EASY! Come to the Ridgefield Community Library (where you can look at the basket) and use the bid sheet to leave your name and a bid. The auction ends the last day of July at closing time for the library. The highest bidder wins. If it’s you, you will be contacted to come to pick up your treasure.
You may bid as many times as you wish, so remember to keep checking the bid sheet throughout the month. I bet you’re not the only one who loves BBQ-ing!

As always, thank you for your support of the Ridgefield Community Library. Only YOU can help a new library happen. Well, you and lots of others like you. Hey, I’m just a poster bear, and “they” make me say stuff that isn’t always logical but has an important message nonetheless.

Don’t worry. My dollies are used to sharing. My mommy says I’m a super-duper tea server. Wanna see?

For May, we have a wonderful “Tea-Themed” basket that includes:
1 sugar bowl
1 package of Ridgefield’s very own “Liberty Blend” tea
This basket has a retail value of $55.00.
So come to the library and start the bidding!
When these gals switched from coffee to tea, they calmed right down. Their cackles became melodic laughs. Their brooms became household (not transportation) items. And they used their hats to guard against the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays (not for really bad traffic cones or for scaring kids or for making them look kinda silly).
Thanks in advance for being part of the solution to a new, bigger, better library for Ridgefield!

Okay. This isn’t the item up for auction. Maybe when we get our NEW LIBRARY built and if we have a little (or a lot) of energy left over for more fundraising, we could afford to buy this sleek little number so that one of our Ridgefield tots can jet around in space-aged style. But, for now, let’s get ourselves back down to good old Mother Earth, shall we, People?
Every month, the Friends auction off something special and wonderful in our never-ending quest to raise money for the library.
You have to check in regularly at the library to see what’s up on the auction block, what the current bid is, and if you are in the lead.
A brand-new, deluxe Scrabble board game with a Scrabble Dictionary and a beautiful wooden cribbage set will be available throughout the month of August as the Silent Auction item. Bidding starts August 1 (see the item and make your bid at the library). Don’t miss out on these wonderful additions to your game collection and the chance to support a GREAT cause. At the end of August, the highest bidder will be notified. Questions? Contact Tevis Laspa (360-600-0943)
It’s an easy, fun, and exciting way to support YOUR library AND get wonderful things for you or someone on your gift-giving list.
Silent auctions are great! Look what I got by being silent. It’s not just a ball. It’s a just-my-size, perfectly yellow, I’m-not-sharing ball.
Remember, proceeds from the Friends fundraisers will be used to support the Ridgefield Library Building Fund, as well as the programs and services provided by the Ridgefield Community Library.
As always, thank you for supporting YOUR public library!

Actually, we’re having a silent auction. Hopefully, YOU are having a cookout and need our first item up for bidding.
As you know, the Friends of the Ridgefield Library are actively raising money to help fund a new library in Ridgefield. We are starting a silent auction of items that have been donated to the library. See the items via photos here or in the library.
You have to go to the library to leave your bid, so don’t wait if you see something you want!
Auctions will last four weeks unless someone agrees to buy the item at the “Guaranteed Purchase Price.”
Every time a new item comes up, we will post it here!
The item can be picked up from the library immediately after the close of the auction.
The first item in this fundraiser: 6 bags of Kingsford Original Charcoal. Each bag weighs 7.7 lb, for a total of approx. 45 lb. Estimated retail price $6.50/bag, or about $39.00.
Think of all the yummy food you can cook with this hot stuff!
Guaranteed purchase price of $30.00
